in law as well as art at the University of Utah, Brigham Young
University, the Slade School of Art in London, and the New York Studio,
Scott Blaser brings seemingly disparate training and experience to the
canvas. Skills of inquisition are apparent in Scott Blaser’s work.
Landscapes change when acted upon by light, the same should be true of a
painting. Its ability to deflect, absorb, reflect and ultimately draw us
to find some truth; that is why I continue to question. The process is
evident in Blaser’s explorations of natural places---pushing beyond
what is seen to what is implied. It is why the human connection to his
landscapes come so powerfully. This new collection of Scott Blaser’s
moves scale and reality to the verge of abstract, to dramatically push
the interpretation experience of the viewer. Each piece engages the
viewer in a different, often profound way; a culmination of thirty years
worth of asking questions and painting. |
