Biography
Anne was born in the Bronx,
New York
and grew up in upstate
New York
. She attended the
School
of
Visual Arts
in
Manhattan
and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art.
Upon graduation, Anne worked for the prestigious Maer and Murphy
Co. in
New York City
. They specialize in Trompe l’oile, murals, and marbleizing.
One of the most influential work experiences came when she took a
position with Tallix Foundry in Beacon, NY as a patinist.
The foundry casts and fabricates sculpture by some of the world’s
most renowned contemporary artists, such as Frank Stella, Roy
Lichtenstein, and William deKooning.
In 1991 Anne moved to
Oklahoma
to pursue a career as a full time artist. The focus of her work is still
life and figurative painting in oil. Anne
believes an artist needs to always be a student of their craft.
She has studied with C.W. Mundy, Dan Gerhertz, and Matt Smith. She
was awarded a scholarship to attend the
Scottsdale
Artist
School
to study with Sherry McGraw. Anne also attends life drawing classes and
paints portraits weekly with a group of fellow painters.
Anne’s work appeared in the March 2002
issue of Southwest Art Magazine’s “Starting Your Collection”column
ad then again in June 2002 as an “Artist to Watch”.
She has also participated in several national art shows, including
The Oil Painters of America, The Greenhouse Gallery Salon International,
and The American Women Artist’s Annual Show.
Most recently Anne has been chosen as a recipient of The Oil
Painters of America’s scholarship.
